The visit to the Rajasthan Agriculture Research Institute was organized by the Department of Botany with the objective of enhancing understanding of modern agricultural practices, research techniques, and innovations in crop improvement. This institute is a premier centre for agricultural research, dedicated to improving crop productivity, sustainability, and farmer welfare.
The visit began with a briefing by senior scientist, Dr. Moolaram Yadav, who explained the vision and mission of the institute. A short presentation on recent research achievements was shown. Participants were taken to various research labs including Plant Breeding and Genetics Lab, Soil Science Laboratory, Biotechnology Lab etc. Researchers demonstrated how they conduct experiments to develop high-yielding and pest-resistant crop varieties. Visit to the weed museum enhanced the knowledge about various seasonal weeds and their medicinal value. A guided tour through the experimental farms and greenhouse showed real-time crop trials, that reflected the significance of research in ensuring food security, new technologies in pest management and soil health monitoring, benefits of genetically modified and hybrid seeds.
The visit to the Agriculture Research Institute was highly informative and educational. It provided valuable exposure to cutting-edge agricultural research and its real-world applications. It also highlighted the importance of science in addressing agricultural challenges and improving farmer livelihoods.
