Objective: 

This course will enable the students to –

  1. To demonstrate technical knowledge and develop skill set that creates different types of professionals in the field of Botany like in research and development, teaching government and public services.

On completion of this course, the students will be able to:

CO92: Examine and explain the general characteristics of bacteria and their commercial uses.

CO93: Apply the knowledge to microscopic preparations and subsequent observation of the permanent slides of fungal forms as prescribed in the syllabus.

CO94: Apply the different methods of Staining used in Identification of organisms.

 CO95: Apply different methods of isolation & identification of micro organisms.

  • Survey of dermatological diseases caused by Fungi
  • Inventry preparations of antibiotics procured from Fungi
  • Morphological study of representative members of Fungi- Pilobolus, Chaetomium, Morchella, Melampsora, Polyporus, Dreschlera, Phoma, Peziza, Puccinia
  • Symptomatology, identification, causal organism of the following diseases: White rust, bunt, smut, green ear, smut and ergot of Bajra, rust and smut of wheat, paddy blast, cotton wilt, downy mildew and powdery mildew of grapes, tundu, tobacco mosaic virus, little leaf of brinjal, root knot of vegetables
  • Report on eminent contributors in Mycology, Plant pathology and important related institutes
