On completion of this course, the students will be able to:

CO47: Briefly study the economic products with special reference to the Botanical name, family, morphology of useful part and the uses

CO48: Identify the economic products related to theory syllabus and write Botanical name, family and uses.

CO49: Understand the genetic variations among inter and intra specific plants.

CO50: learn the Line transect methods of vegetation study by using quadrat analysis methods. Learn about the various methods of soil analysis, identification of various ions

  • Study of B chromosomes
  • Study of mitosis in onion root tips.
  • Calculation of mitotic index.
  • Study of meiosis in onion flower buds.
  • Study of monohybrid and dihybrid crosses in the field and working on the numerical problems related to them.
  • To find the frequency of herbaceous species by quadrat method.
  • To find the density of herbaceous species by quadrat method.

  • Study of adaptive modifications in plants by specimens/ slide preparation /photographs in Hydrophytes- Eichhornia, Hydrilla; Xerophytes- Casuarina, Nerium; Halophytes- Rhizophora

    1. Study of soil texture.
    2. Study of soil pH.
    3. Study of soil water holding capacity.
    4. Study of soil moisture percentage
    5. Testing of soil for the presence of carbonate, nitrate, inorganic salts and replaceable bases.
