The Department of Botany at IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur, established in 1995, stands as a beacon of excellence in plant science education and research. Housed within the School of Life Sciences, the department offers a comprehensive curriculum that spans undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application.The Undergraduate Program (B.Sc.)provides students with a robust foundation in various branches of botany, including plant diversity, systematics, physiology, genetics, ecology, and sustainable agricultural practices. Students engage in hands-on experiences through laboratory work and field studies, enhancing their understanding of plant biology. The curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for careers in education, industry, or government, as well as for higher education pursuits.The Postgraduate Programme(M.Sc.) delves deeper into specialized areas such as molecular cytogenetics, plant biotechnology, bioinformatics, and plant pathology. Students are trained in advanced research methodologies, including statistical analysis, microscopy, chromatography, and plant tissue culture.The curriculum emphasizes the application of botany in agriculture, environmental science, and biotechnology, equipping students with the skills necessary to address contemporary challenges in plant sciences. 

At the level of Research and Doctoral Studies,the department fosters a vibrant research environment, focusing on areas like plant tissue culture, phytochemistry, micro-morphology, and ethnobotany and plant based therapeutics .Collaborations with organizations such as the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) support these research initiatives. Doctoral students engage in innovative research projects, contributing to advancements in plant sciences and related fields.
