General characters, classification and economic importance, life history of –Mastigomycotina- Sclerospora, Zygomycotina-Rhizopus, Ascomycotina- Saccharomyces, Aspergillus, Basidiomycotina- Puccinia, Ustilago, Deuteromycotina- Alternaria

Plant Pathology I

History and scope of plant pathology, general account of diseases caused by plant pathogens, significance of plant diseases, pathogen attack and defence mechanisms.

Plant Pathology II

Symptomatology, causal organism, disease cycle and control of the following plant diseases: Tobacco mosaic virus, bhindi yellow mosaic, little leaf of brinjal, citrus canker, white rust of crucifers, green ear disease of bajra, late blight of potato, rust and smut of wheat .
