IIS (DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY), jaipur
10th May 2022
The Discipline of Botany of the IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organized a Terrarium Exhibition on 10th May 2022. All the students of Semester VI from the Bachelor's programme- B.Sc., B.Sc. (H) and B.Sc.-B.Ed. actively participated and showcased their terrariums and tray gardens prepared by them.
The students explained the prime features of the plants grown in the terrariums. Different terrariums were prepared by the students in trays, baskets, glass jars, earthen pots to name a few. These materials were reused and upcycled by an innovative approach.
Plants like Crassula ovata (Jade), Dracaena (Snake Plant), Tradescantia (Spider Plant), Bryophyllum (Patharchatta), Pothos (Money plant), Money tree (Pachira aquatica), Fiddle leaf fig (Ficus lyrata) and many more that were propagated via their stem cuttings.
These plants not only add to the aesthetic appeal but also provide numerous health benefits. These can be grown indoors in a limited provided space, with minimum water requirement and work as excellent natural air purifiers.
Respected teachers of the Botany Department Dr. Smita Purohit and Dr. Shilpi Rijhwani surveyed the exhibition and took details from the respective students about each of their terrariums and also appreciated the commendable effort of the students.
