Visit to Rajasthan Agriculture Research Institute (RARI) Durgapura

Department of Botany and Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology organized a field and laboratory visit to Rajasthan Agriculture Research Institute (RARI), Durgapura for UG fifth semester and PG students. The students were escorted by Dr. Kalpana Agarwal and Dr. Shewane Bishnoi.

During the visit the students were briefed about the experimental work and laboratory setup of Department of Seed Technology and Department of Plant Physiology. The students came to know about factors to be taken care of for storage of seeds for germplasm conservation. The department of plant pathology demonstrated the white grub disease resistance model to combat the disease. Other areas visited included weed museum where the herbarium of all the weeds were displayed.

Objectives of visit:

• Offer a special chance for experiential education and hands on learning on weeds, herbarium and field work 
• Improving learning in the classroom by creating links to the agriculture work
• To get direct experience and collect the first hand information regarding plant pathology and germplasm conservation
