Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  1. To develop skills related to various Plant Growth Regulators, their mode of action and their commercial applications.
  2. To observe and analyze various physiological process and pathways.

At the end of the course the students will be able to:

CO32: Basic understanding of the practical aspects of the  physiological processes of plants.

CO33:  Acquire a general knowledge of ascent of sap and plant water relationship by means of experiment.

CO34: Understanding of practical details  of mineral nutrition in plants and application of Hydroponics in modern agriculture.

CO35: Establish the role of photosynthesis and respiration in plant productivity.

CO36: Study the role of various factors in photosynthetic phenomenon.

  • Demonstration of phemomenon of plasmolysis using Rheo discolor leaves.
  • Demonstration of phemomenon of osmosis by potato osmoscope.
  • Demonstration of phemomenon of imbibition.
  • Demonstration of phemomenon of root pressure.
  • Demonstration of phemomenon of unequal transpiration in dorsiventral leaves using cobalt chloride paper.
  • Measurement of the rate of transpiration using potometers.
  • To demonstrate that light, CO2 and chlorophyll are necessary for photosynthesis.
  • To demonstrate that O2 is evolved during photosynthesis.
  • To determine the value of RQ of different respiratory substrates by Ganong’s respiroscope.
  • To demonstrate that CO2 is given out during respiration
  • Measurement of growth by arc auxanometer.
